Two legendary brands united by their love of analog are launching a limited-edition Polaroid Now camera and film to celebrate skateboarding’s grit, creativity, and community
For over four decades, Thrasher, the legendary magazine, has been the voice of skateboarding, capturing both the world’s wildest tricks and the friendships that hold community together. This collaboration honors a shared belief: that human connection defines culture, and moments matter when they are remembered together.
At its heart, skateboarding is a community. It’s not just about who lands the trick, but who was there to see it, who filmed it, who cheered, and who helped pick up the board after the fall. Skateboarding has always been fueled by shared moments and from the earliest days, photography has been central to how those moments are captured and celebrated.
Like skateboarding, Polaroid thrives on raw, unplanned moments. Instant photography doesn’t just document, it connects people, preserving the chaos and beauty of life long after the session ends.
Together, Polaroid and Thrasher aren’t just releasing a camera and film, they’re celebrating the human stories that keep skateboarding and instant photography alive.
The skateboard community is experience based and shares that through imagery. There are sprinkles of Polaroid throughout Thrasher's deep archives. These moments have guided generations and brought us together, not only capturing the chaos but capturing historyTony Vitello, publisher and owner of Thrasher
The release includes the Polaroid Now Generation 3 – Thrasher Edition, each camera hydro-dipped with Thrasher artwork, ensuring no two are alike. It pairs with the Polaroid Color i-Type Film – Thrasher Edition, featuring 11 exclusive frame designs from legendary artist and longtime Thrasher collaborator Neckface, whose bold, chaotic style mirrors skateboarding’s edge and humor.

Founded in San Francisco in 1981, Thrasher Magazine has been the premiere publication in skateboarding for over 40 years. Along with Thrasher’s monthly print magazine, its videos and digital media spread far and wide across all platforms, showcasing the best of skateboarding, and the subculture and personalities surrounding it. What started as a basement operation has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, with skateboarders representing the SKATE AND DESTROY attitude across every continent.
About Polaroid
Polaroid was founded in 1937 by Edwin Land as an icon of innovation and engineering. The company’s launch of the Polaroid Land camera in 1947, which marked the genesis of instant photography, and subsequent introduction of the breakthrough Polaroid SX-70 camera in 1972 and many others, would firmly cement Polaroid’s standing as a technological pioneer and cultural phenomenon during its peak. However, at the turn of the century, the company would be faced with new realities surrounding digital technology’s swift rise and ceased the production of instant film in 2008. But that was short-lived; a dedicated group of instant photography fans would save the last Polaroid factory in the Netherlands under the name ‘The Impossible Project,’ paving way for the eventual rebirth of the original ‘Polaroid’ brand in the years following.
Today, Polaroid is in pursuit of unlocking the beauty in everyday life with instant photography tools that empower creators across the globe to capture meaningful moments. With recent introductions like the world’s smallest instant camera, the Polaroid Go camera, and the world’s first instant camera with built-in manual controls, the Polaroid I-2 camera, the company that we have come to know and love for over 80 years is rooted back in the spirit of analog innovation for the modern age.
